Richard J. here! In honor of all the cats I've had as pets over the years and in the hope that the dogs trying to kill my last two will be caught soon, I decided to do an article on Catgirls in English Dubs. (It's okay to laugh.)
But first, a brief update on the Strike Witches Contest. The number of entries so far is low and the chances of winning are quite high, so get your entry in soon! Just click here to enter! Include your name and address, one entry per person/per address please!
Remember, I bought these with my own money just to give them away to YOU!
Now, back to the Catgirls!
What is it about Catgirls? Why are they so popular? Google gives us 220,000 hits for just the word Catgirls. Nothing to sneeze at. There are numerous websites dedicated to Catgirls and both and fan and official art enjoys depicting non-Catgirl characters as Catgirls. Even cosplayers love to throw on the neko mimi (cat ears) for fun and profit.
So why are they so popular? Perhaps it has to do with the legends of the Nekomata or the fact that many anime and manga fans worship Osamu Tezuka, who created one of the earliest depictions of a true cat girl in the 1950s. Or maybe we're drawn to them because they are related to the harbinger of political and economical doom, the dread Demon Cat. Perhaps it is just a sign of the love of cats in general. Did you know that in 2001-2002, there were 73 million owned cats in ...

Recently it was announced that the sixth and final book in Jean M. Auel's Earth's Children series, titled The Land of Painted Caves, will be released in March 2011. Set in pre-historic times, the books deal with the possible interaction between Neanderthals and our own species among other things. They are renowned for there meticulously researched descriptions of pre-historic life as well as notorious for their sexual content and the Mary Sue like development of the main character. I've read all five books available so far and although I thought the were entertaining, I do think the literary quality of the books take a nose-dive after the first novel. The Clan of the Cave Bear is quite an interesting book however, the announcement that a new book was forthcoming prompted a reread.
The Clan of the Cave Bear is set somewhere between 30,000 to 25,000 years before present, a time when temperature and sea-level were lower than today and much of Europe was either covered with ice or cold steppe/tundra environments. Modern humans shared their environment with Pleistocene megafauna and another species of human: the Neanderthal. The story opens with an earthquake in which the parents of five-year old Ayla perish. Alone, in an environment full of predators capable of devouring a human child, she wanders the forest and steppe near her home. Weakened by hunger she accidentally disturbs a Cave Lion and her cub. Ayla manages to escape but gets mauled in the proces...

It's not just a game anymore -- read the explosive new book series based on the video game Splinter Cell.
In response to the growing use of sophisticated digital encryption to conceal potential threats to the United States, the National Security Agency has ushered forth the new dawn of intelligence-gathering techniques. The top-secret initiative is dubbed Third Echelon.
Its existence denied by the US government, Third Echelon deploys a lone field operative. He is sharp, invisible, and deadly. He has the right to spy, steal, destroy, and assassinate to protect American freedoms. His name is Sam Fisher. He is a Splinter Cell. Sam Fisher works alone. But fights for us all.
Game: Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction
Developer: Ubisoft
Genre: Action/Adventure
Price: $44.99
Pros: Creative, artfully done storytelling
Cons: Besides the ugly red-head (which is completely unrealistic), some strange voice to animation syncing
In November of 2002, Ubisoft released the fi...

There is nothing quite like ripping through villainous hordes with some radical weaponry. With the right tools, it’s like nothing in the world can harm you. There is, oftentimes, an accompanying sense of superhuman strength; a comfort only afforded to those who can bend steel or level entire city blocks with a wink and a nod. While this can facilitate an arrogant demeanor built on a faux feeling of invulnerability, there are certain weapons that will give you a serious edge on the competition. A guns-blazing approach to combat isn’t always a bad thing, but you’ve got to have the appropriate armaments. An army of cyborg pachyderms, you say? Hand me a chain gun; I’ll shred those suckers.
Style is a partial consideration. If you’re gonna kick ass, you would presumably prefer to look cool in the act. By and large, though, you simply want an efficient weapon that will get the job done. The triple-barreled Hydra shotgun of Resident Evil 5 fame is a bit of an awkward piece, but it rips through infected villagers like the Kool-Aid Man through a brick wall.
Over the years, I’ve gathered some of my favorite video games weapons onto a single list of unrivaled awesomeness. Some have been chosen for raw firepower, while others earned their spots through unique and clever design. This isn’t a comprehensive list, mind you, but merely a peek at my choice picks based on personal experience. When the zombie apocalypse finally com...

History and Origins of Tartan
The origins of tartan are inextricably linked with the origins of the Scottish nation. Evidence suggests that striped and checked materials were used for hundreds of years by the Celtic peoples who lived in what would become modern Scotland. But tartan really emerges from the shadows with the arrival on these shores from Ireland of the Scoti tribe in the fifth century. Not only would they give Scotland its name, but they would also bequeath tartan as an everyday garment and as a symbol of identity. The check used by the Scoti was very basic. But as time evolved, so did the intricacies of clan tartan. The number of stripes on the cloth came to indicate rank and the weave became associated with different clans in different parts of the country, especially the Highlands and Islands. Variations of pattern, even within the same clan, continued until the beginning of the seventeenth century when these patterns or setts became standardised. The very word tartan probably emerges at this time as a derivation of the French word tartaine, meaning checked cloth. Proof of the existence of tartan is first seen in a German woodcut made in 1631 of Highland mercenaries serving in the army of Gustavus Adolphus and apparently wearing tartan kilts.

A temazcal is similar to an Indian sweat lodge from the United States. It is very amazing both physically and the release that you put your body through... but even more so for the amazing group of women that you are with. I truly felt reborn. I did not get home until very late- I mean like 2:30 am. It was several hours of absolutely wonderful.
In the beginning we were all asked to write down some of our intentions, the things that we wanted to ask for and focus on. Some of mine were...
1) Surround myself with people who genuinely love me and care about me
2) Spend more valuable time on things that worked towards my goals
3) be me and be happy and fulfilled with it
etc. you get the idea. Then be burned them into the fire. The songs and chants and fire and steam and songs--- all was perfect. When I got home then next morning I could feel Ruben looking at me. he was not just looking at me while I slept- he was starting at me. In awe. A women can feel it. I know he loves me always - but there are times when I can actually watch him remember how much. After almost 10 years I can watch many thought go across his mind. He was starting at me in awe and I could feel. My transformation from the previous night had become to take a hold in my life. It was great.
